BE STILL

Sometimes variety is good, especially in music. Much like his previous release Justin wrote most of the songs for this diverse album while being on the road. While traveling from state to state he recalls the different feelings and emotions experienced while being away from home so long. "I am so VERY blessed to do what I get to do, and I thank God for it everyday, but during the year of writing for this album I had never felt so needy for God than ever before. So many times being alone in a guest house or a little motel in some unknown town caused me to cry out to God in desperate need of fellowship and companionship. It is so good to know that we have a REAL God who is a REAL Friend in time of need." Taking a somewhat departure from his usual writing style, most of the songs on this album are written from a very personal standpoint and each has a particular memory. Justin says of the title track, "I remember being in Nebraska in a small little room everyday for about a week, just by myself trying to stay focused on ministry, trying so hard not to feel the heartache of being away from home, and then having the tangible felling of God's presence surround me and bring me comfort and strength. I thought about Psalms 46:10 'Be still and know that I am God'. The whole song came out of that experience". You can also hear these same feelings in songs like "Never Alone" and "Too far from Grace". Justin pours his heart and soul out to God in a solid tribute to the Lord's Grace in his marriage to his wife of 10 years in "The Lord of the Rings". A clever traditional country song about the dedication of a man and woman to the ONLY thing that will keep a marriage ALIVE. Just listen to the chorus "The Lord of the rings the Lord of my life, the Lord of my children and the Lord of my wife, hand in hand we can do anything as long as Jesus is the Lord of the rings" "It is songs like this that let people know that there is hope for their marriage just like there was hope for ours, and the only hope is Jesus", says Justin.

This album takes a very progressive/contemporary feel at times from the sounds of electric banjo to soprano saxophone and the Hip/Hop style drum loop on the encouraging song "Give it to Him". Also the Hammond B-3 Organ and the vintage Stratocaster sounds as Justin draws from his Texas blues influences, on the straight ahead blues cut "He was the Rock that stopped this Rolling Stone" "This record has some of the greatest players around, and I feel honored just to be in on it some. It's great how an album can take a totally different direction in the studio, and this is what has happened here. It's still country but a lot more, there's just a lot of different style players on it, and each bring a certain creativity".

Justin Wrote 13 of the 16 cuts, and feels each and every song will minister to the hearts and souls of all who listen. "Most of all I hope it brings honor and glory to my best friend, my Lord and my King, I hope that people get still in His presence and feel His love and grace just like I did on those long lonely times away from home". As you listen to this awesome album we think you will.
